Preparing for Financing

How to Compare Business Financing Offers

Payment size alone does not tell you what an offer costs. Here is what to compare across offers before you sign.

Look past the payment

A smaller payment on a longer term can cost more overall than a larger payment on a shorter term. The figures worth comparing are the amount actually received, the total amount repaid, every fee, the payment frequency, and the term.

Watch payment frequency

Daily or weekly repayment affects cash flow differently than monthly repayment, even when the total repayment is identical. Model the payment against your real deposit pattern, not an average month.

Run the numbers

Our Financing Cost Calculator shows total financing cost and cost per dollar borrowed so two offers can be compared on the same basis. All results are estimates.
